Lately we have been so busy and as a result, my husband and I had not had the chance to celebrate my birthday, the end of my internship or the completion of my University degree. So to celebrate all these things, we went on a date night in South Brisbane. We went for dinner at an awesome restaurant, Cactus Republic, which is a fantastic new Mexican restaurant near the Southbank lagoon. It has great food and margaritas, at a ridiculously reasonable price. We then went for dessert at Max Brenner's which always delivers the most amazing (but naughty!) food.
It was then time for the show and we went to QPAC to see Rock of Ages. To tell you the truth I was a little skeptical about what to expect, however I was absolutely surprised at how much I enjoyed it. The music was great and it made a difference that you knew all the songs as they were all Rock songs from the 80's. The characters were awesome and I think they almost covered every cliche character from the USA. However, the best thing about the show was that it was hilarious. Seriously, I had not laughed that much and that hard for a long time. The main character was the narrator and he was fantastic in his acting, dancing and singing. If I could recommend seeing one show, this would be it. If you get a chance, go! It is a musical for everyone.
Overall it was an absolutely fantastic way to celebrate all the wonderful things that have happened in the last week. Definitely a MDLOL for that evening!
